Yup. I felt like I just had to do a redo of this pic after looking at my "improved" one from 2009...
What I've improved:
- anatomy (all that life drawing paying off!)
-Proportions
-Cloth movement
-more subtle colors–no more bright green and bright blue everywhere!
-line variation
-atmospheric perspective
-using hands for composition, emotional effect
-a whole lot of other stuff
Things that haven't changed:
-hands are still painful to draw.
-backgrounds....lots of work.
-seagulls are better off in the background...
Using a tablet also helps. (The middle pic was inked on paper and colored with a MOUSE.) In a couple years I'll probably redo this again and see how far I've come!

But, you draw this on the computer? I somehow thought you drew everything on just plain paper.
(Or, watercolor-paper, which is slightly different, but still!)
