Literature Text

I've seen your eyes like summer skies
So bright and full of laughter
I've seen your smile, so bright and clear
But felt the sorrow after.

You've aided your compatriots
Though you deny you care
You forfeited your oath for us
Our burdens more to bear

But grins and mirth can never mask
The pain that broods behind
Your disposition does belie
A past that was unkind.

Oh such a lonely little boy
From whom is it you flee?
Who did you lose when you were young
What spectres did you see?

For why must you forever hide
In jocularity?
What powers bind you to your fate
Can you ever be free?

Come, let us bear the weight in part
For you lightened our trials
We know, Magician, where you are
Behind that constant smile.
A poem about Fai that my sister requested. It\'s her favourite of my lit works so far.
